Amy joined Oceana in May 2017 as the Web Editor. She comes from a background in both journalism and marine research. Before becoming a science writer, Amy studied the delicate proteins that make jellyfish glow, and the distribution of coral reef fish across the islands of Melanesia. She earned a master's in conservation biology from Columbia University, graduated from the UC Santa Cruz Science Communication Program, and has written for The Atlantic, Science, and Science News, among others. Raised in the sun and surf of Southern California, Amy is thrilled to return to her watery roots with Oceana.
