Katherine joined the Oceana team in 2017 as the Pacific Administrative Assistant. Prior to joining Oceana she spent four years working with a local tour company helping others experience southeast Alaska’s amazing coastal wilderness waters of the Inside Passage.
It was through this work that her passion for the ocean and the wildlife within it was solidified. Born and raised in Elk River, Minnesota, being on the water has always been a large part of Katherine’s life. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities-St. Paul, Minnesota she followed her dream of spending time in Alaska. That supposed one summer job turned into a life in Juneau. Katherine looks forward to working with an organization with a goal she believes in and to be a part of protecting this beautiful wilderness. If you call the Juneau office chances are Katherine’s friendly voice will greet you—unless she’s out fly fishing-- which she likes to do in her free time.
