Oceana’s Events Department is looking for an Events Manager to help the organization and its supporters realize Oceana’s vision of healthy and abundant oceans. This position requires special events experience, the ability to steward donors and prospects, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and handle administrative functions. The ideal candidate will manage a variety of projects and is adept in moving seamlessly from one project to another while ensuring continuous alignment with Oceana’s goals and overall fundraising strategies. She/he must be able to take initiative, meet deadlines with little supervision and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
The Events Manager will work closely with the Senior Events Manager, East Coast to plan for annual events, gala committee meetings and other events designed to cultivate and raise support from special events attendees, donors, prospects, board members, and corporate sponsors. The ideal candidate will manage contractors, vendors and solicit auction items for the annual galas. This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC headquarters. A Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of events planning experience is required.
