Chip Weiskotten is the Senior Communications Manager for the Coalition for Fisheries Transparency, where he leads strategic communications to advance global fisheries transparency, combat illegal fishing, and protect the ocean and the communities that depend on it.

Chip’s work is driven by a lifelong passion for ocean and wildlife conservation. Before joining Oceana, Chip spent six years at the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation as Director of Strategic Communications, guiding marketing, storytelling, digital presence, and media relations for the Foundation’s work, including Capitol Hill Ocean Week. He previously managed federal policy communications for the Wildlife Conservation Society, with a focus on wildlife trafficking, ivory trade, and ocean protection, and earlier in his career worked at DC public affairs firm Powell Tate | Weber Shandwick and on Capitol Hill. He is a fellow of Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leaders, a leadership program for early-career conservation professionals. Chip graduated from Boston University with dual Bachelors and Masters degrees in Environmental Analysis & Policy and lives in Washington, DC, with his wife and three kids. When not working, he enjoys being outdoors, coaching youth sports, skiing, craft beer, and traveling with family.
