Diane Hoskins is a campaign director at Oceana, the largest international advocacy organization dedicated to ocean conservation.
With a background in national legislative policy campaigns, external affairs and lobbying, Hoskins leads Oceana’s campaign focused on preventing the expansion of dirty and dangerous offshore drilling and exploration off the coasts of the United States.
Before joining Oceana in August 2017, Hoskins worked for The Pew Charitable Trusts (Pew) where she directed a winning campaign to reform the Army Corps of Engineers’ Nationwide Permit program. The campaign resulted in the first-ever national living shorelines permit, which encourages nature-based solutions to coastal erosion. Prior to Pew, she worked as external affairs and government relations director for Restore America’s Estuaries, a membership organization of major coastal conservation organizations.
Earlier in her career, Hoskins held multiples roles at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) on their Climate Change, Federal Legislative Campaigns and EcoEnterprises Fund teams. During her tenure there, she organized the largest advocacy fly-in program in their 60-year history and helped develop and launch the organization’s first grasstops alliance, navigating a major strategic shift for the organization. With EcoEnterprises, she helped write a book on environmental venture capital investing in Latin America. Preceding her work with TNC, Hoskins was a program manager with The District Department of Environment, spent a year as an AmeriCorps volunteer and worked for a microfinance organization in West Africa.
A DC-area native, politics has always been close to home and Hoskins has worked on several state and national campaigns. Outside of work, she is a local elected commissioner in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
Hoskins graduated summa cum lade from the University of Maryland, earning a degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics.
