Lauren joined Oceana as a Science & Strategy Fellow in 2026.

She completed her M.S. at Oregon State University, where she was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. Her thesis research focused on the discard mortality of scalloped hammerhead sharks in the pelagic longline fishery of the Northwest Atlantic. She has previously worked for international non-profits in Greece and Malta, developing an interest in global conservation and science-based policy. Lauren is particularly interested in engaging with topics such as habitat protection and fisheries, and eager to support Oceana’s mission of protecting and restoring our oceans.
