This March, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen and U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett introduced the Farewell to Foam Act, a bill to phase out single-use plastic foam foodware, packing peanuts, and disposable coolers nationwide.
Oceana is circulating a sign-on letter that calls on Members of Congress to support and pass the Farewell to Foam Act. The letter is for local elected officials, business owners, and other community leaders to sign. To sign, please fill out the form linked HERE.

The Administration is requesting public comments about potential offshore drilling activities, including seismic blasting and oil rigs, in the entire Outer Continental Shelf, including in protected areas such as National Marine Sanctuaries, Marine National Monuments, and past Presidential withdrawals.
As a respected business leader, your voice carries weight. We need champions of our healthy ocean economy to submit comments urging this administration and members of Congress to stop new offshore leasing off their coasts. To make this fast and easy, we’ve put together a toolkit.

“Rory Fielding’s timely new documentary ‘We’re All Plastic People Now’ shows the chilling reality of how pervasive plastic pollution is in our lives. Plastic is everywhere from the air we breathe to the water we drink. Solving the plastic pollution crisis requires that we curb plastic production and cut off the problem at the source. Americans are sick of plastic pollution; 83% of American voters are concerned about single-use plastic products. Reuse and refill systems are the alternatives we need to move us away from throwaway single-use plastics. The future can include less plastic if we turn off the tap and invest in reuse together.” – Christy Leavitt, Campaign Director
