In response to a recent oil spill from an offshore drilling platform off the coast of Galveston, Texas, Oceana Campaign Director Joseph Gordon released the following statement:
“Texas is enduring the negative impacts of offshore drilling yet again. Even when offshore drilling platforms are no longer in use, they can still spell disaster for the people who are forced to live among them. As long as the United States continues to allow offshore drilling, it is not a matter of if, but when, these oil spills will happen. We must make offshore drilling a relic of the past — there’s too much at stake, and too much to lose. This is but the most recent example of the danger that comes from offshore drilling. President Biden must act now to prevent all new offshore drilling and immediately advance a clean energy future.”
