Happy World Oceans Day!I hope you’ve got your toes nestled in some sandy beach right now, but if, like most of us, you’re simply daydreaming about it, check out these juicy bits of ocean celebration:1. The winner of our ocean hero contest is John Halas, who developed an environmentally friendly anchor and mooring buoy system that prevents damage to coral reefs. Read more about John and see a slideshow of photos from his career protecting coral reefs. Congrats, John!2. Our European colleagues have posted an Oceana TV special for WOD.3. Oceana board member Ted Danson’s commentary for CNN.com. He looks back on how he got into ocean conservation and why he’s still at it more than 20 years later.4.
