January’s Year
BY: Emily Fisher
The smoldering January Jones of AMC’s critically acclaimed TV series Mad Men appears in this month’s issue of Vanity Fair. As VF points out, she recently joined Oceana as a celebrity supporter: “Despite the high visibility afforded by the success of Mad Men, Jones low-profiles it on the scene, giving celebrity stalkers little on which to feed: ‘I don’t have a lifestyle where I’m going out getting wasted all the time.’ But she does have a cause, in conjunction with the environmental advocacy group Oceana: saving sharks from exploitation and extinction. An apt metaphor for Mad Men, where the sharks are also endangered, at the mercy of greater predators.”Well, January, it’s been a good January. The Golden Globe Awards were last night, and Mad Men won for Best Drama TV series.
