New campaign idea: Stop Trawling Divers
BY: ScubaSuz
And you thought you’ve had a bad dive experience…
One minute, it’s just you and the big blue. Next thing you know, you’re surrounded by fish…a lot of tightly-packed fish (how odd)…and a net?!?
Last month, a diver became part of the catch of the day when he was hauled up from about 50 feet below in a trawl net off the coast of England. He was released from the hospital following treatment for decompression sickness.
Fortunately for him, there’s not a high demand for freshly caught diver. Then again, there isn’t any demand for deep-sea corals, but bottom trawlers are still bringing them in.
