New Study: Sharks ‘In Hot Soup’

Jennifer Jacquet over at Shifting Baselines is the lead author of a new study, “In Hot Soup: Sharks Captured in Ecuador’s Waters” in the journal Environmental Science. Using data from Ecuador from 1976 to 2004, the study shows the country captures about half a million sharks each year.Oceana has also documented shark finning in Ecuador and around the world.
