In September 2022, Oceana released a Maryland statewide poll (link to results below) revealing that 88% of Maryland voters support local and state policies that reduce single-use plastic, and 89% support national policies that do the same. Included among the key findings: 91% of registered Maryland voters are concerned about plastic pollution and its impact on the environment and our oceans; 94% are concerned about single-use plastics; 84% are concerned with the amount of plastic items used in food delivery and takeout; and 78% support policies that reduce the use of single-use plastic bags, beverage bottles, and takeout containers.
The poll, conducted by the nonpartisan polling company Ipsos, surveyed roughly 326 adults in Maryland between Nov. 5 and 9, 2021.
